IUTAM Bureau and XCCC (Executive Committee of the Congress Committee) 2007 Meetings were held in the Beijing Friendship Hotel from August 18th to 19th.
Fifteen IUTAM members attended the meetings, including Prof. Lambert Freund (IUTAM President, Brown University), Prof. Henry Moffatt (Vice President of Bureau, University of Cambridge), Prof. Dick van Campen (Secretary General of Bureau, Eindhoven University of Technology), Prof. Juri Engelbrecht (Treasurer of Bureau, Institute of Cybernetics), Prof. Timothy Pedley (Secretary General of IUTAM XCCC), Prof. Alfred Kluwick (member of Bureau, Technische Universitat Wien), Prof. Tsutomu Kambe (member of Bureau, Science Council of Japan), Niels Olhoff (member of Bureau, Aalborg University), Prof. Zhemin Zheng (member of Bureau, Institute of Mechanics, CAS), Prof. Martin Philip Bendsoe (member of XCCC, Technical University of Denmark), Prof. Hassan Aref (member of XCCC, Virginia Tech College of Engineering), Prof. Bernhard Schrefler (member of XCCC, University of Padova), Prof. Tomasz Kowalewski (member of XCCC, Institute of Fundamental Technological Research), Prof. Ernest Tuck (member of Congress Committee, University of Adelaide) and Prof. James Denier (member of IUTAM, University of Adelaide).
The Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (CSTAM) had actively participated in the reception work in Beijing during the meetings. The IUTAM members were invited by CSTAM to attend the opening ceremony of the Chinese Congress of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics in celebrating our golden jubilee and deeply experienced the mechanics research environment in China.
